General InfoWe race 1/10th scale electric touring cars on purpose-made carpet. Since we are indoors, we do not race nitro cars of any kind. If you need advice on what kit to buy, please ask us. We always recommend the robust Tamiya TT-01 for a beginner on a budget. The club is open for race meetings most Mondays throughout the year. We don't race in August, or on Bank Holidays. It is important to check our race calendar on the website before travelling to avoid disappointment. If you are intending to race, we ask for you to arrive from 6.00 to 6.45pm. All drivers need to book in, please do this as soon as you get to the hall as it speeds up the process. We race at Melksham Assembly Hall, which is in the market place in Melksham town centre - easy to find, if you travel into Melksham from the south, at the market place roundabout take a left just before the taxi rank. Parking is available in the market place (free after 6pm) or at Melksham House - please do not block any access to the hall when parking. Race FormatAfter all drivers are booked in, we have a short practice session before beginning the heats. All races are five minutes in duration and are timed by our AMB computerised lapcounting system with result printouts at the end of each race. Race control will seed you into an appropriate 'heat' so you are competing against drivers of a similar ability. The computer calls out the starting order of the cars at one second intervals - you are racing against the clock with the goal of completing as many laps as possible within the five minute race. You can expect 4 to 6 other cars on the track in the same heat as yours. Once your heat has finished, return your car to race control and return it to race control then find a suitable spot on the perimeter of the track to marshal the next heat. Don't worry if it sounds a little daunting - it really isn't! Our aim is to provide a casual, relaxed atmosphere at all times so if you have any questions on the night please do not be afraid to ask.
